FAQs

What can I expect at the Conference – what is included with my registration?

Two full days of Conference session.
Admission to all general sessions of presentations and speakers.
Continental breakfast each morning of the Conference.
Full lunch buffet each day of the Conference.
Breaks with coffee and snacks each day of the Conference.
Cocktail reception on the first evening of the Conference (Wednesday evening).
Conference course materials.

What are the fees (is USD)?
$1950 - Full conference participants, before Jan. 31, 2008
$2250 - Full conference participants, after Feb. 1, 2009

$1000 - Private solo practitioners
$590 - Governmental, Academic officials, and NGOs
$190 - Students and retirees

What are the Conference dates?
Wednesday, 15th of April 2009
Thursday, 16th of April 2009

Where is the Conference held?
The conference will be held at the Faculty of Law building in the Sidgwick Site of the University of Cambridge, 10 West Road, Cambridge, England CB3 9DZ.
 
How do I register / is registration required?
Yes, registration is required for the conference and is first come first served.  Registration for the conference is provided in this website.  Just click here.

How do I pay for the Conference?
There are several methods of payment acceptable.  You may register online using a credit card.  You may also mail in a check with your completed registration form, payable to: Fordham Law School.  You may also submit a bank wire transfer, please contact Alice Wong  for details aalwong@law.fordham.edu.

What is the program for this year’s Conference?

When is the last day I can register?
On line registration for the Conference closes on Friday, April 3, 2009. 

Can I register on site?
On site registration is permitted for individuals paying by check.  We cannot process credit card transactions nor bank wire transfers on site.

Is there a discounted rate if I only attend a portion of the Conference?
The fee is the same for everyone.

Can I receive CLE or CPD credit?

CLE credit is available. The Fordham Intellectual Property Law and Policy Conference has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York State CLE Board for a maximum of 15 non-transitional, professional practice, credit hours. To determine whether another state will award credit, please contact that state’s CLE administrator’s office.

We have received a one-time approval to offer CPD credit in Great Britain to barrister delegates. The Conference is worth 15.5 hours of credit for attendance on both days. There will be no credit for attendance on only one day. We have applied to offer CPD credit to solicitors.

What are the weather conditions and dress codes?
The dress for the Conference is business smart.  England's climate is mild and damp, with temperatures moderated by the light winds that blow in off its relatively warm seas.  Early spring temperatures in Cambridge range from 5C/38F to 13C/55F. 

We recommend that you bring an umbrella!

When do I receive my Conference badge?
Badges are available upon check-in at the welcome table, at the Conference.  Badges will not be mailed in advance.

What is the hospitality Suite?
The hospitality suite is an area reserved at the conference site that is open for all attendees to socialize and network and is open throughout the conference.  We encourage you to visit the hospitality suite.

I am travelling outside of the European Union.  Where can I find visa information for my country?
The UK Border Agency contains general information about different types of visas and aim to answer some common questions you may have related to the visa application process for entrance into the United Kingdom.  http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/doineedvisa/visadatvnationals

Which airport should I fly into?
The closet airport is Standsted Airport (STN) in Essex, approximately 50 minutes from Cambridge.  Please refer to the “transportation” tab on this website for additional information. 

How do I get around in Cambridge, England?
The preferred method is to walk as most venues are within walking distance. 

Taxi cabs are also available and can be arranged in advance or as needed with Panther Taxi:

Stage Coach Bus:  provides bus transportation within Cambridge.  Please check website for timetables and pricing:  http://www.stagecoachbus.com/cambridge/timetables.php

Where can I find parking?
There is no parking on the Sidgwick site, except for someone who is disabled.  Advance arrangement will need to be made.  Please email: aalwong@law.fordham.edu to make arrangements and for additional information.

Car parking is Cambridge is difficult and expensive.  Please check the website for parking availability in the city http://www.cambridge.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/transport-and-streets/parking/
